About Us

A group of friends had the idea of reviving the village pantomime which had sadly terminated several years ago and this resulted in the forming of The Briston Players in April 2007.

The success of this pantomime encouraged the group to present further productions and it is hoped to continue to produce two to three productions a year.

The objective of The Briston Players is to promote community activity in the area of Briston, Melton Constable and surrounding villages by providing performing arts in all its branches and other forms of entertainment, at the Copeman Centre and elsewhere.

We are based in the Copeman Centre, Briston’s Village Hall. See map. The group meets twice a week for rehearsals as well as holding workshops and other social events. See diary for important dates.

We are affiliated to the National Organisation for Dramatics and Operatics (N.O.D.A.) We welcome applications for membership from anyone who would like to ‘tread the boards’ or get involved in other tasks, such as set design, scenery construction, lighting, sound, props, prompting, Box Office, costumes, making tea, sweeping the stage and all the jobs that have to be done by a dedicated drama group.

We are especially interested in directors and musical directors and those able to play either the piano or keyboard for rehearsals and productions. We hope that you will enjoy browsing through our website and ask you to contact us for more information.
